Business Alexandrina, in partnership with Tourism Industry Council of South Australia (TiCSA) present the 2023 Alexandrina Agritourism Conference. 

With the recent launch of the National Agritourism Strategy 2023, the Australian tourism industry is increasing its focus on the opportunities and potential presented by Agritourism. Farming, primary production and produce related experiences can be key drivers of visitors to regional areas. Now is the time for regions to leverage their agricultural reputation to increase visitation, create new revenue streams and support the diversification by agricultural enterprises.

With a focus on collaboration, sustainability and opportunity, this one-day conference aims to encourage future thinking and provide practical ideas to support the Alexandrina region to explore their Agritourism opportunities.

Speakers:

Lynda Schenk  – Purple Giraffe

Lynda Schenk is the Founder of Purple Giraffe, a Marketing Consultancy in Adelaide. For almost three decades, Lynda Schenk has worked across a diverse range of industries including wine, tourism and hospitality. She has a deep understanding of the marketing needs of companies, small and large.

Lynda has a natural ability to talk to people, understand their business and their objectives, and then to work with them to formulate marketing plans, brand strategies and marketing communication plans that build brand equity, growth and profitability. Lynda is the winner of the Fabulous Ladies of Wine, 2018 Wine Marketer of the Year and a 2019 Telstra Business Woman of the Year, Small Business Category Finalist.

 

Angela Breeding  – Department for Environment and Water

Angela is a seasoned professional with over 15 years of experience in creating unforgettable visitor experiences for South Australia's national parks. Her extensive work in nature-based tourism, education, and interpretation has earned her a reputation as a leading expert in her field. Angela is passionate about connecting people with nature and creating meaningful, emotional moments that will last a lifetime.

Growing up on a sheep station, Angela developed a deep appreciation for the importance of agriculture and sustainable business practices. She is a staunch advocate for the industry and has firsthand experience with the challenges and opportunities presented by running a sustainable business.

 

Siggi Frede – Effektiver

Siggi Frede is the Managing Director of Effektiver,  boutique strategic tourism consultancy supporting tourism operators, state and local government, RDA, regional tourism organisations, industry associations to recover and thrive in South Australia's visitor economy. 

She is also a Lecturer at ICHM in the Bachelor and Master of Hotel Management degrees where she currently teaches Leadership and Managing Customer Experiences and Customer Relationships. Siggi holds a Master of Business Administration (MBA) and has successfully completed her training as a Reiki Master and Seichim Master. 

 

Chloe Grainger – SA Tourism Commission

Sitting within the Destination Development unit at the South Australian Tourism Commission, Chloe's current role is to deliver special projects which enable the tourism industry to create demand driving experiences. Such projects include developing sector plans, like the South Australian Agritourism Sector Plan, as well as other industry tools and resources. Up until recently, Chloe has spent many hours on the road meeting with operators to assess their current tourism product offering and providing mentoring and support for tourism businesses across Adelaide, Adelaide Hills, Barossa, Clare Valley, Fleurieu Peninsula and Limestone Coast.

Chloe was also heavily involved in developing the SATC's Wellness Tourism Plan and during her 10 years at the SATC, has managed funding programs, supported major, managed and sponsored events, and the development of the cruise sector. Chloe has a degree in Business Management and has a passion for South Australian wines and travelling.


Nerissa Kilvert - SA Small Business Commissioner 

As the South Australian Small Business Commissioner for nearly three years, Nerissa Kilvert is committed to champion, support and celebrate small businesses through dispute resolution, subsided mediation and advocating for legislative improvements.

Nerissa spent more than a decade as a solicitor in various roles within Government agencies and practices before heading the Regulatory Services section of Consumer and Business Services. Working with all levels of government, stakeholders and industries, she managed the division’s regulatory, policy and legislative reform responsibilities.

With extensive legislation knowledge, project capabilities and leadership qualities, Nerissa leads a dedicated team of experts to support a thriving business environment.

 

Jeremy Rogers - Primary Industries and Regions SA

Jeremy Rogers has been a veterinarian since 1981, practicing in Qld, SA , Tasmania and Papua new Guinea for 20 years before joining PIRSA in 2001. Much of this work was in large animal or mixed practice, as well as some periods of teaching.

His role in PIRSA was initially to manage the SA Bovine Johne’s Disease program but has expanded to include Emergency Response and Disease Surveillance and Biosecurity areas as time went on. These roles mean responding to emergencies across Australia and investigation of unusual diseases or situations for producers when they arise, and providing advice on biosecurity matters.

Since 2012 Jeremy has been District vet for Adelaide Hills, Murray Mallee and Kangaroo Island, with overlapping roles in other districts as well. In some of these areas Veterinary Services , particularly in complicated investigations can be  difficult to access.

Outside of work Jeremy has interests as a parent, soccer referee, CFS volunteer, camping and rock climbing occasionally, and leadership in his local church.
